Karen Bucio: Ernie Bucio’s friends provided musical support to the tune of $3,200

I want to thank all the good people for supporting the Ernie Bucio Music Scholarship Fundraiser on March 13. Even with our outside stage being rained out, we raised $3,241 for the fund, administrated by MJC. In addition to all the people who came out to support the cause, I thank all the musicians who volunteered their time and fine musicianship. Ernie had a special relationship with each of them.

Ruthie Carrillo, Ernie’s sister, and Connie Bucio, Ernie’s mom, were in charge of running the raffle, and much thanks goes to them and our many generous donors.

Lastly, thank you to Hanibal and Evin Yadegar for hosting this event on a day the Barkin’ Dog Grill is usually closed. Ernie was godfather to their son, Atanous; they are like family.

It is an exhausting but rewarding event. We all got a chance to remember Ernie and at the same time carry on his efforts to help upcoming musicians. I hope to see everyone again next year.

Karen Bucio, Ceres
