Nancy Burch: Jesus wasn’t working within the ancient system
Re “Jesus was not a socialist or a rebel” (Letters, March 22): In response to the letter stating Jesus was neither a socialist nor a rebel: Socialism is indeed a modern political construct based on the teachings of Christianity. I find it hard to believe that if Jesus had been working within the system, as the letter writer maintains, they would have nailed him to that cross. The cross is emblematic of the struggles of Christianity to bring the principles of love, brotherhood and sharing to society.
