Randy Van Cleave: Mayor’s review committee could use some regular folks

Mayor Ted Brandvold’s budget review is commendable and an appreciated fulfillment of a campaign promise to the citizens of Modesto. It would appear he might be missing an opportunity to add a couple of regular citizens or small business owners to participate alongside the noteworthy business and opinion leaders, CEOs, CFOs and CPAs announced to be on the panel. While he’ll clearly receive a highly respected technical review, he might be missing the perspective and relevant perceptions that may better aligned with the perceptions of the majority of the folks who supported him, as captured directly by their observations and in their own words.
