Jerry Jackman and Kathy Conrotto: Modesto group leading way on climate change

As chairpersons of Modesto Citizens Climate Lobby, we thank member Bill Anelli for the outstanding work he has done on local and statewide levels to help mitigate the effects of climate change. Bill spearheaded the drafting of a climate resolution which was presented for adoption to the Modesto City Council in February. He also made presentations to the Northern California CCL conference in Berkeley last month.

Thanks to his efforts, and the efforts of our members assisting him, our council adopted the Revenue Neutral Carbon Fee and Dividend resolution and a climate resolution modeled after ours was adopted unanimously by the San Luis Obispo City Council last week!

So far we are the only cities in the state, along with the city/county of San Francisco, to officially emphasize the need for legislation to lessen the effects of climate change.

Thanks to Bill's leadership and the efforts of other citizen volunteers in the CCL community the word is spreading that the climate crisis demands action.

We ask that you show support by contacting Rep. Jeff Denham and ask him to join 13 other Repubilcan House members in signing HR424 which commits to addressing the causes of climate change.
