David Schortner: Bee ignores protests against Obama’s Cuba visit
NBC is no way a Donald Trump supporter. To their credit though, they showed film-clips of protests to the President’s Cuban visit. One clip showed a protest in Miami that looked bigger than any protest crowds at Trump rallies. The protest march seemed to be very peaceful. The next clip showed protesters in Havana being beaten and carted off to jail. What does The Bee “Our View” have to say about that?
Are you going to blame Trump? Also, Fidel Castro was a friend of Saddam Hussein, who we took down because of suspected weapons of mass destruction. Castro had Russian nuclear missiles! Did we take him down? No, we are now rewarding him.
David Schortner, Modesto
Editor’s note: According to the Miami Herald, roughly 200 people protested President Obama’s visit to Cuba in Miami. The group Ladies in White conducted their weekly Sunday protest in Havana in advance of the president’s visit and was, as usual, arrested, detained and later released. Other dissidents were prevented from leaving their homes, according to USA Today. The president met with Cuban dissidents on Monday.
