Patricia Egenberger: Senate should do its job, consider Supreme Court nominee

Those who say they carry the Constitution in their pocket need to actually read it. It is the duty of the president to nominate a candidate when there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court. And it is the duty of the Senate to consider this nomination. One argument the Republicans keep giving is that we should let the people choose through the election process. The people already did that by electing Barack Obama two times. He is the president. We don’t need to wait for another one. This level of obstruction explains why the American people have such a low opinion of this Congress.
