Daphne Erwin: Think before casting a vote for Trump

They didn’t think Hilter would win either. With hindsight, we know the horrors that Adolf Hitler committed and how he did them while the world stood by denying his steps along the way. Frighteningly similar steps are being taken now by Donald Trump.

He is targeting and denigrating groups of people, pitting neighbor against neighbor and creating an “us vs. them” mentality.

He is promising wealth and greatness to “us,” yet many of his profits come by not letting his employees unionize, hiring illegal workers, declaring bankruptcy that makes others pay for his debts and other questionable practices.

He threatens the press with libel suits if they disagree with him. Preventing free speech and oppositional opinions is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. No one would be better off if Trump won the election than Donald Trump. The rest of us will not even be safer given his antagonistic attitude toward world leaders and his marginalization of whole groups.

Think before voting!
