Steve Wallace: Both Democrats and Republicans voters are fed up
I am a Ted Cruz supporter, but I understand what’s going on with Donald Trump’s supporters. Yes, they know that he’s a jerk. They are supporting him because they want to shake things up in Washington, one way or another.
The system is broken. The Beltway Cartel, made up of Democrats, Republicans, lobbyists and donors, has run us off the cliff and they don’t seem to notice or care. They are well insulated from the mess. It’s us that’s in trouble.
We are $19 trillion in debt, with trillions more in Social Security and Medicare unfunded liabilities. One way or another, we will have to pay it.
A similar thing is happening on the left. First there was “Yes We Can,” but “they” didn’t. Then came the “Occupy” and “1 percent” crowd, and now it’s Bernie Sanders. They don’t like Hillary Clinton because she is obviously part of the cartel.
America is in “Peasants With Pitchforks” mode, and they are storming the castle. After all, it cannot be worse and it might get better.”
Anyway, that is what is really going on. And the cartel knows it. Batten down the hatches. We are living in interesting times.
