Frank Clark and Colleen Cordano: Book sale was a huge success in Oakdale

The Friends of the Oakdale Library recently had their 50th annual used book sale at the Oakdale Community Center. The event went far beyond our most optimistic expectations. The community donated over 10,000 books to be sold to the public for $1 each.

While several thousand dollars was raised and used in support of our local library, the primary objective was to raise literature awareness and afford the community the opportunity to purchase books that might otherwise be beyond their means. A book’s place is not on a shelf collecting dust, but to be circulated and read by as many people as possible. We wish to thank the many volunteers, book donors and organizations that made this event so successful.

Special recognition to Raley’s Markets, City of Oakdale, Oakdale Irrigation District, Oakdale Rotary Club, Oakdale Library, Bliss Café, Ace Hardware and the many members of our community who donated books or otherwise participated.

Frank Clark, event chairperson, and Colleen Cordano, President, Friends of the Oakdale Library
