Mike Whiteley: Want to paint murals? There are better subjects
Re: “Mural of homeless man fosters discussion, some concern” (Page 1A, Feb. 28): It’s been two years that my freind, Mitchell Maisetti, has passed and I miss him every day. I’m reading about this homeless guy getting a mural painted about him. I have been downtown when this guy was around; he was everything The Modesto Bee said he was and more. The person who should get a mural is Mitchell Maisetti. He, Tammie and Paul were some of the first business people to open a restaurant in downtown Modesto when there was nothing and nothing good about downtown Modesto. He work hard, year-in and year-out, to bring people and other business to the downtown area.
I knew Mitch for 30 years. He was kind and very compassionate. If he saw someone who needed to eat he would feed them in a very quiet way. People like Mitchell are the ones to remember with murals. He did great things for downtown and all of Modesto. I say this on the second year of your passing. RIP my friend
Mike Whiteley, Modesto
