Nancy Garrad: Budget Inn fire left disabled man, wife homeless
I know of an elderly couple left homeless after the Budget Inn caught fire. The man is in very poor health, on dialysis and has problems stemming exposure to Agent Orange and has to live where there is electricity; his wife cares for him as best she can. They paid the rent for the month, over a $1,000 and are not receiving a dime of it back. They lost everything but the clothes on their backs. Red Cross helped with a room for three days, but on Monday became homeless. They are scared. It’s not right that they were not refunded the rent they paid.
