Leonard D. Silva: Mabye Salida could use a farmers market

Re: “Room for markets in Turlock” (Page 3B, Feb. 18): The letter about the need for two farmers markets is not a very good idea. For a minute, think about all the vendors coming in from all over our state. I don’t think they will come form all over the state, but they will travel from farther destinations and make a profit with bigger loads with bigger trucks blocking our streets. We need to keep it local to help out our own small farmers using their small pickups to haul their produce and other products. They are our community, our neighbors, the other one seems to be doing OK by themselves. Maybe they can go to Salida.
