Jill Jones: Who pays for all those government freebies?

An editorial on ModBee.com talks about “federal investment” in the ever-changing high-speed rail plan. A young lady I was chatting with talked about “free college.” Bernie Sanders wants the “government” to pay for all Americans’ health care. And on it goes – free this, government pay-for-that, federal investment in the other. Does anyone anywhere understand that “free” only means someone else is paying for it?

The “government money” everyone wants, or wants to spend, is actually money removed from the purses and wallets of taxpayers. The government earns nothing. What it does instead is take from those who do earn. What is so difficult to understand about that? Or have Americans become so obtuse that they do not understand simple arithmetic, simple economics?
