Daniel Marsh: Marsh did a good job; high hopes for new mayor

Yes, it makes me more than a little sad that Garrad Marsh (no relation) is leaving as our current mayor of Modesto. I always felt comfortable with him in place. His honesty stands out the most. He did not wish to give the fiscal store away to special interests. The Great Recession proved his prudence and guardianship qualities, helping us weather that storm.

I wish the best for the new mayor. His group ran a open campaign that appealed to voters. He may be new to politics, but our city’s civil servants should be able to give him guidance and the best of support. I know there will be no radical or quick changes.
