Karen Kern: Don’t criticize others for taking jobs out of Modesto

Re “Courted from afar, this business staying” (Page 3A, Feb. 18): The word “hypocritical” comes to mind after reading Jeff Jardine’s column regarding businesses that have been lured or “cannibalized” by other cities, counties, states and countries. If I’m not mistaken, The Modesto Bee used to be one of the largest employers in our city.

Now the newspaper is printed in Sacramento and “customer service” calls go to a country outside the United States. What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander.
