Daniel Connell: Common ground, not likely on climate change

Re “Wish list for state’s next U.S. senator” (Opinions, Jan. 9): Reasonable people can only agree with The Bee’ s hope that if the next U.S. senator from California is a Democrat, he or she can find common ground with “reasonable” Republicans. But in terms of man-made climate change, are there any reasonable Republicans?

What so-called common ground is possible when virtually the entire Republican Party refuses to recognize that man-made climate change even exists, much less that government should do anything about it? Ideology, irrational or not, always trumps reason.

Daniel Connell, Sonora
