Donna Reeves: Don’t expect lower prices at Cipponeri’s market

Why would the Turlock City Council approve bringing in businesses from outside the area to the detriment of our local businesses? Lost revenue for local farmers; fewer local dollars circulating in our community. I believe the revenue currently generated by the Turlock Certified Farmers Market will more than make up for fees Pete Cipporneri (and his proposed for-profit market) will pay the city for the use of the “streets.” And where will this money he’s going to pay the city come from? Our community, with higher prices for trucking in “grocery store” produce.
