Eileen Wyatt Stokman: Bee should get letters in print more quickly
As a former visiting editor, I can appreciate the fact a reader can have a letter published only every 30 days. Having been a subscriber for many years, I can see this is an effort to be fair. What I don’t understand is how and when letters are chosen for publication. We live in an era when everything has a sense of immediacy. If an issue is current, and a reader has a good idea, it seems their letter should be published when the topic is still hot – not after decisions are made.
I’m not a good blogger and I realize that is a venue for some. I’m old-school print media. Is there, or could there be, a hot topic idea forum online that the powers that be look at? I’m a lifelong student of communications and checking out all the channels. Once in awhile I have an idea and want to share it immediately! I’m certain I’m not alone.

Editor’s note: The Bee tries to post all letters to modbee.com within a day of receiving them. For our newspaper, where space is limited, there is often a longer delay. Also, readers are invited to comment directly on stories as they are published on modbee.com.
