Randy Brown: Game of ‘telephone’ results in Cruz claiming Carson out in Iowa

Last week, Dr. Ben Carson accused Sen. Ted Cruz of stealing votes from him after Carson left Iowa early for Florida to pick up some clean clothes on his way to N.H.

Cruz is innocent. We all know how these things go. First, a news addict, speaking to a Cruz supporter, says: “Just heard on CNN that Carson’s leaving Iowa early, stopping by home in Florida before heading to New Hampshire.”

Cruz supporter to low-level campaign worker: “Hey did you hear Carson took off early for Florida to rest? Wonder what that’s about?” Low-level worker to precinct boss: “Just heard that Carson packed it in in Iowa, and is heading to Florida, not New Hampshire, to recover.” Precinct boss to Campaign Manager: “We got good news. Carson’s done with Iowa and returning to Florida, apparently skipping New Hampshire. You know what that means?” Campaign manager to Cruz: “Great news Ted! We’ve knocked Carson out. He’s retreating to Florida to recover and sleep in his own bed for a change.”

Cruz: “What a loser. He never liked me anyway. Now get out there and reel in the rest of his supporters.” All just a big misunderstanding among friends.
