Carolyn Pust: Kids should work for donations, not panhandle
While heading home from shopping at Riverbank’s Crossroads Center, I witnessed about four players from the Riverbank football team panhandling on the corner of Oakdale and Claribel. This disturbed me greatly. They were in uniform and begging for change to be placed in their helmets. When I was a teenager we held fundraisers that encouraged everyone to work. These kids were flat-out panhandling. Is this the type of work ethic we want our kids to embrace? Should they think going on a corner and begging is acceptable? I am very glad my child does not attend this school. I would be ashamed of such actions.
