Patricia Lemaster: Experience at VA facility left something to be desired

Re “Kudos to Modesto VA” (Letters, Jan. 7): I am glad the writer was so successful at the new VA center. Here is our experience. First visit to pick up discharge copy. He was “greeted” by three people who were engrossed in their work; after five minutes someone asked what he wanted. Second and third visits he did not have to wait. He inquired about getting a hearing aid. The person at the desk punched in the information and handed it to him. He was to go to Livermore to have lab work done and come back another day to see the doctor. He uses Tricare so doesn’t need these appointments. At his age, he didn’t want to travel so far so many times.

Two months ago we contacted Rep. Jeff Denham’s office and they said would look into it.

Pat Lemaster, Modesto
