Leroy Egenberger: In using iconic names, company stealing from all of us

Re “Yosemite solicits bids to operate key concessions” (Page B1, Jan. 1): The Delaware North Corporation claims that it owns the use of iconic place and facility names in Yosemite National Park, names such as the Ahwahnee Hotel and Badger Pass Ski Area. How can that claim be true when a National Park is a Federal property held in trust for all the people of the United States?

DNC is attempting a raid on a public resource, enjoyed by millions of visitors across the world, for private corporate gain. The lawyers for each side will have to argue this out.

In the meantime, we, the people, can loudly cry: “Stop, thieves!”
