Bruce Frohman: Where is outrage over OID water-sale plan?

As we begin a 4th year of drought, one wonders why those who live in Oakdale Irrigation District aren’t besieging the management and board of directors about their plan to sell water outside the district.

Will the water be sold below market value?

The plan is to sell public water that is needed locally. A select group of farmers will be unjustly enriched for not using their annual allotment of public-owned water. If they don’t want it, let other OID customers have it.

Will other OID customers be given cash rebates for conserving? No. So why should a select group get rebates?

What takes the cake is one OID board member profiting from the plan. He says doing so won’t be a conflict of interest. Really? Where is the outrage?
