Linda Lee: It isn’t government keeping blacks down

We have a black president, black CEO of McDonald’s, black mayors, governors, doctors, scientists, etc. As a black person, you can go to school and learn if you choose to. You can vote, you can go to college and go with your tuition paid for in full because you’re black.

So, is the white man keeping you from opening that book and learning to read? Once you learn to read your world opens up. Is the white man keeping you from going to school? What Al Sharpton, President Obama, Eric Holder are telling you is that it’s the police, white man doing this to you. I would like to hear them tell all black people “you must read, educate yourselves, keep your communities clean, take responsibility for children.”

Let us educate ourselves and show America we can become police officers in our own streets. There are a lot of good cops. If you don’t want the police on your streets, I do.

Linda Lee, Turlock
