Eldon Parker: Conservatives, including Denham, should be ashamed

I am disappointed, but not shocked, that many of the so-called conservative Republicans joined the majority of Democrats in supporting this unbelievably excessive $1.1 trillion budget, of which 25-30 percent will be borrowed. These so-called conservatives, which includes our very own Jeff Denham, betrayed their constituents and the values they pretend to stand for by their votes.

Their votes insure full funding for Obamacare, full funding for Planned Parenthood and the rest of the President’s agenda. With the largest party majority since the Civil War, and the power of the purse, they completely gave the president everything he wanted. When Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid are congratulating you, that is probably not a good sign.

So the next time Jeff Denham talks about the wasteful spending on the proposed high-speed rail project, his words will ring hollow. When he decries the abortion mill known as Planned Parenthood, how serious is he? His vote helped to fund it.

There were 95 Republican congressmen and 18 Democrats who voted against this budget. They should be applauded.

The lesson is this: Pay no attention to what they say, only to what they do. That will show you who they really are.
