Kim Burton: Incorrect donation date kept her from giving gifts
As seen in many places this time of year, there was a barrel for the collection of toys that would be given to children in need. One of the barrels was placed at the gym where I am a member. The sign on the barrel stated that we could donate until Dec. 23. I walked into the gym on Dec. 21, ready to donate and the barrel was gone. I asked the employee at the front desk what happened to the barrel. She stated “they came and got it.” She confirmed the sign said it would remain until Dec. 23, she also stated she let the people know, as they took the toys, that she still had members who wished to donate. The people collecting the barrel stated they could not leave the barrel any longer.
Charities, thank you for providing this service. Could you please provide accurate information to those who donate? I doubt it is your purpose to frustrate the people you are asking to donate, but that is the result when wrong collection dates are given. How many donations did you not receive because of your incorrect information?
