Jennifer Bush: Forget tariffs, tell us where the food came from

Does it never end? We (as in, “We The People”!) voted in 2002 to require that food sold in stores include in the labels a country of origin. So here we are and the House of Representatives wants to repeal it.

What part don’t they understand? We elected them to be our voice, not to dictate their agenda. So we will deal with a tariffs? Big deal.

Thank you Rep. John Garamendi, D-Walnut Creek, for not caving. Do the rest of the representatives actually know how to solve problems? I don’t think so. Their answer is to put the repeal into a spending bill that is over 1,000 pages long and, like magic, the problem will disappear. Get your heads on straight and you might get re-elected.

Jennifer Bush, Modesto
