Scott Langpap: It shouldn’t be so easy to make or have bombs
The media stories about the San Bernardino massacre are curious. I can’t recall other stories about mass killings over the last few years that put such an emphasis on the perpetrator being a U.S. citizen. What’s the purpose of emphasizing U.S. citizenship?
Read between the lines. It’s not the Syrian refugees the president is allowing into this country that we need to worry about, it’s our fellow Americans we should be afraid of. After this terror act, the president came right out and said we need stricter gun laws. But how many explosive devices did these Islamic terrorist have? Shouldn’t the president come out and say we need to have stricter laws on buying and possessing bombs?
The casualties of life and property would have been far worse had these devices gone off. I call on Congress and the president to stop making it so easy to own and possess bombs.
Scott Langpap, Modesto
Editor’s note: Making and possessing any bombs, including pipe bombs, is illegal under both federal and California statutes.
