Barry Wadlow: Why coddle those who waste water?
Re “Lawns are cut back to 1 drink a week” (Page 3A Nov. 26): I find it troubling we are being limited to one day a week watering. Every day I walk a 3-mile loop through my neighborhood. I see water violators every day, usually the same ones each week. If theese people were fined $500 for violations the city would earn $2,500 a day. If we are going to have rules they need to have teeth. First, we need serious patrols. Second, since the drought has been well publicized there never should have been warnings; the first violation should have included a $500 fine. Maybe then people would take it seriously.
Remember this is only one small section of Modesto. I’d be more than glad to have the water police walk with me.
