Margie Maston: Nine seniors treated to lunch by an anonymous donor

In this day and age, when so much of the public’s attention is focused on negative news stories, I want to share proof of wonderful, positive actions in our very own city!

On Nov. 19, a group of Bethany Home residents took a field trip on the Ripon city bus to the busy city of Modesto. We were dropped off at the Target center on Sisk Road. Once our shopping was completed, nine people walked through the parking lot to have lunch at Applebee’s. We enjoyed a delicious meal served by a courteous, competent staff. When it was time to catch the bus home, we requested our individual bills. The server returned in a few minutes to tell us our entire lunch bill had been paid by an anonymous fellow diner!

We were humbled and stunned. Our spirits were lifted for days after. We want to thank the generous person(s) who kindly treated a unique group of residents who sometimes get overlooked in the world. We believe in the goodness of others. We appreciate the validation of our premise by a total stranger. In our small way, we will take your generous gift and pay it forward. Thank you!

Margie Maston, Ripon
