Irit Goldman: Police did all they could in my hour of need

On Nov. 3rd, at 2:30 a.m I got a frantic call from my son in law that my 37-year-old daughter was not breathing and they can’t get her pulse. They had just moved to a new place and I hadn’t been there yet. I jumped out of bed and plugged the (wrong!) address into my GPS. I ran every red light on McHenry until I saw a police car on the corner of Briggsmore and McHenry. I flagged him down and begged him hysterically to show me the way.

He radioed the team on the scene, came back to my car and in a very comforting and calm voice told me that they are ready to transport her to Memorial Medical Center but they wanted me at the house. He took the time to lead me to their house. I never caught his name and was not able to thank him for his kindness.

Unfortunately my daughter didn’t make it. However, the officer was comforting when I was in panic and stopped his duty to take me over there.

We are always quick to criticize policemen but I just wanted people to know that they are there for us when we need them! Thank you officer for your service!
