Debra Bush: It’s cooler and wetter; turn off the automatic sprinklers

Winter has arrived and we are starting to get some much needed rain. This does not mean we are out of the drought. We must still conserve.

Several of my neighbors still have their sprinkler systems running. Twice during the pouring rain I watched sprinklers watering away.

There is no reason to waste water. Now that the weather has cooled, there is no reason to water as often. Things are staying moist for weeks. Turn off your systems; if we dry up and there is no rain in sight, you can manually turn them on during your water day.

Stop being lazy and wasting water and operate your system by hand!
