Don Cowart: MID should leave $10 fixed charge where it is
Re “MID taking another run at changing electricity prices” (Page 1A, Nov. 15): What about reimbursing solar customers for the “fixed costs” they saved MID? When customers produce solar energy, MID saves on power plant construction, purchase of natural gas, etc. It is nonsense to claim solar customers aren’t paying their fair share. An increase in fixed charges is, in fact, making solar customers pay twice for those “fixed costs.” Perhaps it’s time to make municipal utilities abide by the same rules as investor-owned utilities.
