Vicki Rice: Community’s generosity provides clothing for babies
What an overwhelming response we had this yearas a result of our new and gently used baby clothes drive for Second Chance Week, a nationwide public awareness campaign that promotes recycling. The generosity from the citizens in Modesto and Stanislaus County was truly heartwarming. We collected over 2,500 new and gently used items of baby clothes! The kindness we experienced, and the people we met along the way, have all contributed to making a real difference for the youngest members of our cities and neighborhoods.
I speak on behalf of the Modesto Pregnancy Center, Salvation Army, Center for Human Services and the Cal SAFE program when I say none of this could be possible without your support. The city of Modesto and Stanislaus County thank you for your generosity and look forward to sharing this year’s donations and hopefully brightening the lives of young mothers and fathers and their children.
Vicki Rice, Recycling Coordinator for the City of Modesto
