Doug Estes: Hearing proved that Clinton lied about Benghazi

Re “Our View: Have we finally heard enough about Benghazi” (Page A11, Oct. 26): Your Editorial states: “The marathon grilling ... yielded nothing Americans didn’t already know.”

However, I learned about the emails Secretary Hillary Clinton sent to her family and of her telling the Egyptian prime minister, hours after the attack, that it was a terrorist attack and had nothing to do with a movie.

I learned that Secretary Clinton knew right away that this was a planned terrorist attack by an al Qaeda-like group, but she talked to the American people about a movie being the cause. I learned that Secretary Clinton said nothing, when five days later, Susan Rice went on five TV shows saying, “Benghazi was a spontaneous reaction as a consequence of a video,” a statement Secretary Clinton knew was false.

When the bodies came back, Secretary Clinton continued the false narrative by telling the families she would get the maker of the movie that killed their sons.

I think an honest headline, after the hearings, would have been “Secretary Clinton lied about Benghazi.”
