Robert Wright: Congress wouldn’t act, so president did

Kudos to the president for his movement on immigration. Over the last 10 years almost every member of Congress, from both parties, has admitted that immigration reform is badly needed. A overall general consensus exists on this matter. In 2005/2006, President Bush tried to get it done to no avail.

It’s a pathetic indictment that this Congress forces the president to play his best hand while Congress sits on theirs. The President is absolutely right, if Congress won’t do the job, they were elected to do, he will do it for them. Now we have a lawsuit; when did it become the job of Congress to sue the President as opposed to passing bills? Thank goodness we have one grown up in Washington.
