Antoinette Del Re: A special person gave Mom a great birthday
In September I took my mother for her doctor’s appointment. Afterward we decided to go to IHOP. It was to be my mother’s 89th birthday the next day so I wanted to treat my mom. As we sat down, my mother and I were talking about who was going to pay. I wanted to pay, but you know how mother’s are. Next to us was a lady. We started talking to her and we discussed my mother’s birthday and her age, soon to be 89.
My mom said she felt cold, so she put on her jacket. The lady next to us left suddenly but unbeknownst to us came back with a beautiful soft blanket from her car and wrapped my mother with it. My mother was so happy we continued to talk off and on and learned this sweet lady’s name was Linda.
Linda gave my mom this blanket; my mom was so delighted that she would just give her blanket away.
As we were eating, here comes Linda with a receipt, she paid our bill. It stated “Happy Birthday” on it. My mom was so excited and surprised. She stated that never in her 89 years has this happened. Thank you, Linda, for making my mother’s birthday the best ever. She continues to talk about her great experience. She has the receipt on her refrigerator. We will always think of that special person we met.
