Doug Estes: Abortion kills many, many more than accidents

Re “Who really deserves pro-life label?” (Letters, Nov. 10): The author tells us about safety devices, firearms, warning labels, safe working conditions, etc. etc. The point being, (I think) that life is taken away in those situations also. But, I didn’t see any numbers to compare.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the total number of unintentional deaths for a year in the U.S. was 126,438. According to Wikipedia, the number of abortions was 1.2 million. That’s almost 10 times as many deaths by abortion. They also report that the number of abortions has declined steadily from the 1980s. Just saying.
