Richard C. Ornelas: GOP stopped Obama, but what will they do?

First, regarding the the so-called WAVE election: Yes, it was an impressive victory for the Republican Party, but what did they run on? What was their message? What were their policies that they hoped to pursue, besides stopping President Obama? The President was not on the ballot, yet the GOP insisted on demonizing Obama.

If you voted Democratic, you apparently voted for the President’s policies. What were/are the results of his policies?

▪ Gas is under $3 a gallon.

▪ Unemployment is under 6 percent, lowest in six years.

▪ The stock market is booming.

▪ Osama bin Laden is dead.

So, it’s time we give Republicans a chance to govern? Really?

Remember the economic, military, environmental and financial chaos of the Bush administration?

So the GOP won big. Now, let’s hope they stop trying to “stop Obama” and instead attempt to actually work, co-operate and compromise with the Executive Branch to get vital legislative issues addressed. The people have once again spoken. Let us see if anything was heard.

If you were among the large segment of citizens who didn’t bother to vote, don’t complain. If you did vote, congratulations! Now, let’s all get busy. We are all in this together, as in “We the People.”
