Edward Holt: What will the air board think to regulate next?

Re “Burn Clean to Earn” (Page A1, Nov. 2): Earn what? You spend to get an approved fireplace. Then have it inspected and pay to register it on a regular basis (like a car). If you don’t, then you’ll be fined. I never thought I’d have to register my fireplace.

What’s next, getting a plate and registering your gas-powered lawnmowers? Will we to get annual tests for our lawns for pesticide and herbicide use? I better stop, I’m giving them too many ideas.

This agency receives its funding by adding a fee to your annual vehicle registration.
