James Emerson: College Avenue redesign a monstrosity

Sept. 25th was the first time I had the displeasure of driving on College Avenue from Briggsmore to Needam since the changes. The bike lanes seemed larger or wider than the one lane for traffic. I can imagine the traffic in the morning and afternoon when people are driving to and from work – especially around MJC, where the old bike lane is now parking spaces.

Whoever OK’d this decision needs to go back to wherever he or she thought they learned street design. This is undoubtedly the worst government street construction decision ever made. Hopefully the designer has to take College Avenue to get to work.

PS: Is there any way to get this monstrosity undone?

James Emerson, Modesto
