Scott Turner: Stamping out sprawl now in hands of voters

I thank the voters of Modesto for their support of the “Stamp Out Sprawl Initiative” – Measure I. Those of us outside the city limits called on you to help us get this ballot initiative approved and you responded. Almost 10,000 registered Modesto voters signed our petition to put the power of approving annexation back into the hands of you, the people, and take it away from the City Council. We trust voters to do the right thing regarding the issue of city expansion. We do not trust Modesto politicians, who have a history of making back-room deals with developers, the Building Industry Association and other special-interest groups. We ask for your help one more time in the upcoming election. Please vote “yes” on Measure I (“aye on I”) in the upcoming November election. Our fate is in your hands.

Scott Turner, Modesto
