Paul Golden, M.D.: Out of the Darkness makes a difference

I would like to remind you of the annual “Out of the Darkness” 5K walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at Graceada Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. This is also to make people aware of major depression and bipolar disease. You would be surprised to find out how prevalent these issues are among family, friends, neighbors, etc. It is time to come out of the closet and educate each other and society about the recognition and diagnosis of these diseases and their tragic outcome if left untreated. Public employees – police, fire department, school teachers, etc. – need to address these issues to help tame what would be otherwise deadly outcomes.

Paul Golden, M.D., Modesto
