Merle Mackenzie: Bee completely right about pit bulls
Re “Pit bulls can be deadly; hold owners accountable” (Opinions, Nov. 2): The Modesto Bee’s Opinion on pit bull dog ownership is completely accurate and well stated. This very serious threat to public safety has gone on way too long. The owners of these animals need to face heavy consequences for the harmful actions of their dogs. Excusing this problem by saying some pit bulls are loving pets should no longer be accepted as a response. As The Bee article stated, if the laws won’t allow authorities to crack down on these irresponsible dog owners, then the laws need to be changed.
