John Mendosa: Don’t trust ‘facts’ from the Almond Board
Re “Dusting off almonds’ image” (Letters, Sept. 10): The writer must be a liberal to be so loose with facts – 97,000 jobs? I don’t think so. I do believe the $21 billion figure however, but don’t try and fool the informed people of its economic value to the state. These nuts are exported and you know it; they’re not food grown for anything else than to provide profits to the almond grower corporations. The fact is, you can’t even call it agriculture anymore – it’s corporate farming and nothing else.
If you continue to spout this nonsense, then you should try for a higher-paying job with Hilary’s campaign, she could use the help!
