Bruce Aguilar: Bee didn’t complain when Brown refused to do his job
Re “Kim Davis is no religious martyr” (Opinions, Sept. 9): On Nov. 4, 2008 over 52 percent of Californians who voted passed Proposition 8, maing “gay marriage” illegal in our state. Then, state Attorney General Jerry Brown subsequently refused to perform his traditional duty and defend state law from all legal challenges, including laws with which he disagreed. But, to paraphrase from your asinine anti-Christian editorial opinion, he “wanted to keep his principles and his paycheck. He can’t have it both ways.” At the time your editorial opinion was quite the opposite of what you expressed today in the case of Kim Davis, who had the audacity to follow her conscience instead of the politically based ruling of 55 percent of justices of the Supreme Court. Spin your way out of that one!
