Joy Dovichi: Bring beautiful Modesto of old, vote yes on I

I have lived in Modesto for almost 70 years. In the 1970s, when the population was around 75,000, Modesto was named an “All American City,” and how proud we were.

Where did that pride go? As we grow larger (population over 200,000), our once beautiful city is a mess with the homeless, graffiti, empty retail stores, unsafe parks, gangs, and people not respecting others property. Instead of making Modesto bigger by wanting to take in land from Wood Colony, we should take care of what we have now in the city. If we all work together to clean up Modesto and our reputation, maybe we can become an All American City again. Vote yes On I.
