Lloyd Vierra: Media favorites drag down economy
The press and their election recommendations often contribute to poor private job creation. Government jobs are a drag on the economy. With the press and government bureaucracies continually wanting to tax or over-regulate the job creators it leaves little incentive to expand. This creates fear in business owners and the potential lenders who then are subject to credit quality auditing by the feds of their business-loan portfolio.
The press loves to make election recommendations for individuals as well as propositions. The reasons are sometimes laughable, but Jeff Denham was an outstanding recommendation. Smooth-talking, liberal big spenders would take their orders from Nancy Pelosi. Can that be good for the Valley? The press often is philosophically on the wrong side of sound business practices. Just look at the stock prices of the companies that own them. To have employees, you need employers. With capitalism, in a constitutional republic, it’s profits that create jobs. No profits, fewer jobs. How many press people who make the recommendations ever mortgaged all their personal assets, had many sleepless nights, ran a successful business and signed the front of the payroll checks so the employees can endorse the back?
