William Raynor: What’s with all the work going on downtown?

OK, city officials, are we chopped liver? Do we mean anything? Why do you allow construction without giving us any notice or explanation? You are tearing up streets from I to D and 15th to 10th with no notice to residents. One or two signs does not cut it. We are awakened at 6:30 a.m. with bulldozers and semi’s digging and transporting material until 3 or 4 p.m. Can you put fliers at our doorsteps or in the mail telling us the “whys and what-fors” of this construction project? Big pipes line our streets, jack hammers jerk you out of bed. Modesto officials, give us the scoop!
