Bill Wood: Hillary gets ‘royal’ treatment on mishandled emails
Retired U.S. Army General David Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime of mishandling classified documents. He was sentenced to 2 years probation and $100,000 fine. Thus ended a legendary military and civilian career.
I spent 27 years in the Army and six of those years were involved in handling highly classified assignments. Everybody in the organizations I led knew what was classified and what was not. The difference between classified and not is very easy to recognize. On the other hand, we have Hillary Clinton with a high probability she will be our next president. Unlike Petraeus, she was able destroy most of the evidence by having her personal server’s hard drive scrubbed. Some of the evidence was handed over in printed format, but not the hard drives. Particularly the record of her involvement in the national disgrace of Benghazi is probably gone.
The administration pressed hard to bring Petraeus down but it appears Clinton, with her making light of it, will escape the full consequences of her actions. We fought a revolution to get free of the yoke of English royalty, but it appears we still have “royalty” in our midst.
